One Guess Where I'm Going to Be Tonight...

2004-10-01_xx_2:59 p.m.

I've mentioned in previous rambles, sometimes cryptically and sometimes not about this club I have fallen in love with. This is quite the feat for me to admit to as I'm really not a dance club type of guy, but this particular place has a dive bar atmosphere, dance club format and strange people from up and down the sexual orientation food chain.

It is also a rather out of the way place, that has kept a pretty low profile with advertisement spread only via word of mouth and the occasional college newspaper article. To say that the place is pretty unkown is an accurate assumption, with lots of regular customers constantly returning and very little fresh blood.

You can imagine my surprise and partial dismay when the following article appeared in the bible of out and abouts. A little paper called the New Times that has local branches in dozens of major cities nationwide. Here, it is used to locate concerts, eateries, theatre (both traditional and motion picture) and of course, places to drink. The lid has been blown off my secret place in this publications yearly special edition, "BEST OF..."that is read by literally thousands of people. The title of the article alone is why I love this town...

"BEST PLACE TO FIND A ONE-NIGHT STAND - Hot Pink, Friday nights at Karamba Nightclub 1721 East Mcdowell Road.
There's just something about Hot Pink that makes people horny. maybe it's the pounding music or the lyrics dripping with innuendo, but our guess is that the extreme inebriation brought on by $2 drinks is what really turns people on. The club is a sexual free-for-all - if you want somethign sleazy with no strings attached, this is your place. Look around the dance floor at midnight on a friday and most everyone is making out. Check out the dark corners of the bar and you'll find people getting a little more personal. Try to go to the restroom and you're likely to walk in on drunken lovers doing the "wild thang." Hey, with that kind of luck, you won't even have to deal with the awkard morning after."
- New Times, Best of 2004

Personally, I like MY REVIEW much better.
